File   The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) wants to tap into the network of residents’ welfare associations (RWAs) to double the number of citizens getting vaccinated, which currently stands at 35,000 people every day. It plans to approach RWAs to open vaccination session sites after tying up with private medical facilities in the area. In a two-pronged plan to target more people, the civic body also wants to rope in huge industrial complexes that have health centres so that they can create vaccination sites there.

Three new COVID-19 clusters, all in the Yelahanka zone, with a total of 19 positive cases were detected in Bengaluru on Friday. This takes the overall number of such groups to six over the past two weeks. Two of the clusters were detected in educational institutions: five cases at Agragami College and nine students tested positive at Sambhram Academy of Management Studies. The third one, with five cases, is in a residential complex, Purva Venezia apartments. BBMP Commissioner N. Updated: Share Article AAA The dry run for the COVID-19 vaccination began on Saturday in three centres across the city – Kamakshipalya PHC (primary health centre), Vidyapeetha PHC and Uttarahalli PHC. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has already identified 1.68 lakh health care workers, who will be the first to be vaccinated. The details of these workers from over 4,594 institutions, including PHCs, medical colleges and hospitals, private clinics, etc., have already been uploaded on the portal managed by the centre, said BBMP Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad. Mr. Prasad said that beneficiaries will receive messages on the centre they will have to go for the vaccination. Healthcare workers will key in details mentioned in the SMS on the portal, which will generate an OTP that will have to be entered.
