Man gets 10-year sentence in deadly Columbia shooting

A Columbia man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to a deadly shooting.
Aaron Harris pleaded guilty in late April to first-degree involuntary manslaughter in the death of E quan Spain, 19, on Sept. 14, 2019.
Prosecutors had asked for 10 years in prison, while Harris defense attorney asked for four years. Harris was initially charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
Investigators said Harris was driving a car when his passenger, Michael Anderson, accidentally shot Spain in the backseat. The men were allegedly preparing for a gunfight.
COLUMBIAÂ â A Columbia man was sentenced to 10 years after pleading guilty to first degree involuntary manslaughter for his role in the death of a 19-year-old.
Aaron Harris was sentenced Thursday for the death E Quan Spain, who was shot and killed in September of 2019.
Columbia Police and U.S. Marshals arrested Harris, aka Pooh Bear in October 2019, in connection to the homicide. Prosecutors charged Harris on the charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.Â
Prosecutors also charged 28-year-old Michael Anderson III in connection with the shooting. Police arrested Anderson less than a week after the shooting. Anderson died in prison in February of 2020 while being held at the South Central Correctional Center in Licking, Missouri.

Harris will be responsible for overseeing production and quality control and will help lead the team in bourbon innovation. Harris comes to Watershed from Bardstown, Kentucky, where he was most recently the Distillery Supervisor for Lux Row Distillers. He has also served as Distillery Supervisor for Barton 1792 Distillery.
