Covid-19 vaccinations in Warrington set to hit 17,000

The coronavirus vaccination total in Warrington is set to hit 17,000 this week as over 70s prepare to receive their jabs THE total number of coronavirus vaccinations carried out in Warrington is set to hit 17,000 by the end of this week. The news comes as vaccines are set to be offered to people in the town over 70 and those who are classed as clinically extremely vulnerable. The aim then is to offer first doses of the vaccine to everyone in the top four priority groups in both Warrington and Halton by mid-February. Dr Andrew Davies, clinical chief officer at Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group, explained: “This week, we will start the process of inviting those over 70 and in the clinically extremely vulnerable group to be vaccinated.

2,500 coronavirus vaccinations administered in Warrington

APPROXIMATELY 2,500 coronavirus vaccine doses have been administered in Warrington so far. The figure has been revealed by Warrington South MP Andy Carter following discussions with health chiefs at Warrington CCG. The clinical commissioning group has also confirmed that appointments already booked in for patients to receive their second ‘booster’ Pfizer vaccine jab will be honoured. This comes after the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation advised that delaying the booster jab could allow a greater number of people to receive a single dose to prevent more deaths and hospitalisations. The committee says that delays in giving a second vaccine dose for up to 12 weeks should not affect protection.
