UN: Syrian regime used sarin gas in April attack A UN panel has confirmed the Syrian regime used sarin gas at Khan Sheikhun in April. The US responded to the attack by launching cruise missiles at a Syrian airbase. The Syrian government was responsible for a deadly sarin gas attack in April on a rebel-held town in Idlib province, UN investigators said on Thursday. The UN and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) panel said in a joint report that it was confident that the Syrian Arab Republic is responsible for the release of sarin at Khan Sheikhun on 4 April 2017.
