If you are looking to see some beautiful views then now is the time to check out this historic trail in Arkansas for a great weekend road trip.   Arkansas State Parks has just announced that they have completed the restoration and improvements to the Rim Trail at Mount Nebo State Park. It took some teamwork to get it done but it all happened with the support from the Walton Family Foundation and the Arkansas Parks and Recreation Foundation. The completed project initiates a new era for the popular, 86-year-old hiking trail by adding it to the state’s growing system of Monument Trails.

This year for First Day Hikes, the State Parks of Arkansas will not offer guided hikes at any location. However, self-guided walks and hikes are encouraged on the “First Weekend,” Jan. 1-3. “Enjoying nature and the crisp winter air is a great way to start the new year off on a positive note,” said Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism Secretary Stacy Hurst. “There are so many trails to explore at our 52 state parks, I’m sure all our guests will find the perfect one for them.”

The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism announced today 21 Advertising and Promotion Commissions and Convention and Visitor Bureaus received more than $3.5 million in grants supported by funding from the federal CARES Act.  “The people and agencies that promote our state parks and other tourist attractions to the rest of the world are essential to a robust state economy,” said Governor Asa Hutchinson. “Their campaigns to spread the word about our museums, bike trails, hunting and fishing, and all the other family friendly opportunities in Arkansas entice tourists by the tens of thousands, which supports jobs and brings in millions of dollars to support our state. The CARES Act funds are a bridge to normalcy after the harm to our tourism industry from COVID-19.”
