A Gassville woman, who was originally charged with throwing her then 69-year-old grandmother to the floor and kicking her repeatedly in the face and head in 2017, was back in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.
Thirty-five-year-old Brittany R. Brown pled no contest in late May 2018 to charges stemming from the attack on her relative and was put on probation for six years.
She was in court Monday facing the third revocation of her suspended sentence.
She was found to have violated the terms and conditions of her probation and was given a three-year prison sentence.
Brown wasted little time in violating probation the first time. The initial revocation petition was filed in late July 2018 about a month after she was sentenced alleging Brown failed to report to her supervising officer as directed, was no longer living at her approved address and had been avoiding all contact with her probation officer.
LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) has launched the Statewide Community Resources Portal, a website that connects schools and communities with information about available support services around the state.
As a result of COVID-19, many students and families were in need of essential support services, or “wrap-around” services, such as financial, healthcare and housing assistance. While many organizations provide such services around the state, a comprehensive repository of information did not exist.
This need for the website became evident after ADE launched the ENGAGE Arkansas initiative with the Education Renewal Zones and Graduation Alliance in an effort to locate and assist students who have become disengaged or are at risk of becoming disengaged with school. As the ERZs began locating community supports for students, it was quickly determined that a quick reference list of services for families did not exist. ADE and the ERZs then partnered with the

On a day U.S. COVID-19 deaths topped 400,000, new confirmed and probable cases in Arkansas continued a downward trend with 1,331 cases reported Tuesday, well below the 3,209 reported the previous Tuesday.
The Arkansas Department of Health also reported that confirmed and active cases fell by 1,854 to 20,940. Unfortunately, deaths rose by 43 to 4,386. The ADH also reported 50 available ICU beds as of 2 p.m. Tuesday, down from 57 on Monday.
