BRINKLEY, Ark. (KAIT) - A man is in police custody, suspected in a parking lot shooting that left another man dead.
Arkansas State Police say Bernard Pearson, 33, of Brinkley was shot shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of the Brinkley Housing Authority Office, 418 Chicago St.
Pearson was still alive when police arrived but died later at a Forrest City hospital. His body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for autopsy.

A Madison County man is accused of killing his mother and uncle and shooting his father Saturday morning. Forty-four-year-old Samuel Simmons is in the Madison County Jail at Huntsville and is expected to be formally charged on Monday.
According to the Arkansas State Police, Madison County deputies responded around 5:30 to a residence south of Huntsville off Arkansas Highway 23. When they arrived at the residence on County Road 5675, they located 67-year-old Richard Simmons Jr., who had been shot but was still alive. Richard Simmons’ wife, 65-year-old Mary Marlene Simmons, and brother, 66-year-old Mark Lee Simmons, were both found deceased.
