LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas National Guard is being called upon to help process Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims. The director of the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services (ADWS), Dr. Charisse Childers, made the announcement Monday during the Arkansas Legislative Black Caucus meeting. Childers and Secretary of Commerce Mike Preston updated members on the status of a variety of programs including the state’s PUA system. KATV has been following since the pandemic hit and caused an increase in unemployment claims. Most recently, a story aired on March 1 highlighting the 30,000 Arkansans whose PUA claims remain in limbo and the state’s response.
