Mass Native Has Chance to Go to the Moon

Updated on December 21, 2020 at 12:32 am After six months aboard the International Space Station, a Randolph native has been named as one of the 18 astronauts with a chance to go to the moon. Scott Tingle, a graduate of Blue Hills Regional Technical School, has been selected as a member of NASA’s Artemis Team, according to a news release from Jill Rossetti, the school s superintendent. The team will work toward putting one man and one woman on the moon in 2024 for further exploration. They would then use data from that mission to prepare a future mission to Mars, the release stated.

Two Coloradans could be headed to the moon

NASA Johnson Space Center receives Orion spacecraft training simulator Shane McGlaun - Dec 19, 2020, 8:55am CST NASA is preparing astronauts for missions in the Orion spacecraft with the arrival of the spacecraft simulator at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. The simulator allows astronauts, engineers, and flight controllers to train and practice for mission scenarios using Orion for future missions to the moon. Orion is the spacecraft that will be used for the first Artemis missions to the moon. Inside the simulator, the interior is outfitted with the same displays seen in the actual Orion spacecraft and control systems and crew seats able to mimic what astronauts will experience when the Orion spacecraft launches. The simulator can also mimic what astronauts will feel on returning to Earth after the mission is complete.
