An exhibition titled Tracing the Families of the Armenian Genocide Survivors opened on April 24 at the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute’s exhibition hall. The exhibition presents the stories of the families of Armenian Genocide survivors, including the families of the museum’s staff. The stories, which are exhibited for the first time, feature exclusive original items, photographs, documents, family relics and other materials. “These stories reached us both from Armenia and other countries,” said Harutyun Marutyan, the Director of the museum-institute. “I can say that this is the first museum exhibition where the stories of the families of the genocide survivors are presented in this big volume. Turkey remains an enemy state to Armenia, Director at the Genocide Museum-Institute says The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute continues its work as regular and has not received any messages about change of ideological direction, Harutyun Marutyan, Director at the Genocide Museum-Institute told media on Wednesday. Marutyan s remarks came at a request to comment whether recent statements from officials about the need to reconsider relations with Turkey have in any way impacted the work of the Institute.  As far as I know Armenia s leadership has not made official statements, meaning statements or agreements over the Armenian-Turkish relations. Our Foreign Ministry announced days ago that no talk were underway with Turkey, Marutyan said.

26 Turkish citizens visited Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in 2020 In January-December 2020, the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute was open to visitors for only 92 days due to the coronavirus pandemic, with is overall visitor numbers for 2020 standing at 4,842, one of its deputy directors, Lusine Abrahamyan, told a press conference on Wednesday. She said that out of 4,842 visitors, 3,701 were foreigners and 1,141 were local residents, adding 26 Turkish citizens visited the museum last year. Only 11 official delegations visited the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in 2020. “During the four months of this year we welcomed more than 2,000 visitors, with school students, 1,286, and foreign nationals, 1,024, making up the overwhelming majority,” Abrahamyan said, adding they received 4 official delegations in this period.
