Fresno State’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity donated more than $22,000 to children’s centers in Armenia and Arstakh
FRESNO The Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at Fresno State and National Raisin teamed up to raise $22,785 for the Armenian Missionary Association of America. National Raisin matched $10,000 that the fraternity raised for the AMAA ‘Shogh’ Day Centers.
The centers, located in Yerevan, Gyumri, and Vanadzor in Armenia, and Shushi and Askeran in Artsakh, are educational after school programs serving nearly 290 children, from ages six to 12-years-old, from socially underserved families. The centers offer hot meals, educational support, summer camps, fine art classes, and more, all targeted at lifting families out of poverty.

A holiday event in Yerevan
During the first weeks of 2021, the Armenian Missionary Association of America in cooperation with the Evangelical Church of Armenia delivered a message of hope to over 15,600 children, adolescents and their parents during more than 100 Christmas Programs held in 45 towns and villages throughout Armenia and Artsakh. Along with the Good News, over 12,000 children received Christmas Joy packages filled with stationery, educational games, hygiene items and warm hats that were prepared in advance by volunteers from the AMAA and ECA.
This year, the AMAA’s and ECA’s “Hayasa” Theatrical group, led by Artistic Director Nune Abrahamyan, conveyed the Good News of Christmas to the children with a puppet show based on Oscar Wilde’s “Selfish Giant” story.
