Body of serviceman found hanged from tree in Armenia
Today at around 11am. body of serviceman of one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Armenia located in the southern direction, Private Narek Khachatryan was found hanged from a tree in the area near the military unit, Armenia s Ministry of Defense reports.
Investigation is underway.
Armenia’s Ministry of Defense refuted the information published by media outlets about the arrival of Azerbaijani-Turkish delegation to Armenia yesterday.
“We once again urge the mass media representatives refrain from publishing not clarified information, especially on the issues sensitive for the public,” the MOD said in a press release.
Russia’s minister of defense Sergey Shoygu discussed with Armenia’s counterpart Vagharshak Harutyunyan the situation in Nagorno Karabakh, Russian ministry reports.
“On April 7 phone conversation was held between Russian minister of defense, general of the army Sergey Shoygu and Armenia’s minister of defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan. The heads of defense agencies discussed the regulation of situation over Nagorno Karabakh as well as other issues of mutual interest,” the Russian Ministry reported.
Armenia’s Ministry of Defense in its turn reported that the two ministers discussed the activity of the 102d Russian military base deployed in Armenia and the joint Armenian-Russian troop. It reported that they also referred to the wide-scale reforms launched in the Armenian army as well as to wide-range of issues on resolution of security issues in Syunik.

Large-scale military exercises begin in Armenia on Tuesday, one day after Azerbaijan launched four-day drills involving thousands of troops.
According to Deputy Defense Minister Arman Sargsian, during the first major military exercises since a defeat of Armenian forces in a war against Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh last fall, Armenia’s armed forces will aim to test their defense capability.
Earlier, Armenia’s Ministry of Defense said that the March 16-20 drills will involve 7,500 soldiers, about 100 tanks and armored vehicles, some 300 artillery and anti-aircraft systems as well as aviation.
A ministry statement said they will take place in “all operational directions of the armed forces” in accordance with the Armenian army’s training plan for the first half of this year.
