Artur Vanetsyan: We have just four and a half years to reinforce our army
During one of his regional visits, former Director of Armenia’s National Security Service, Chairman of the Homeland Party Artur Vanetsyan was hosted by a family in Urtsadzor, a village in Ararat Province of Armenia.
The mother of the family raised the safety issue: I have three children; how can I sleep peacefully at night?
“Security is an invisible thing; as long as a person is safe, he does not understand that a problem may arise tomorrow. Today, they reshape Syunik as they want, they do whatever they want. It cannot proceed like this. We have just four and a half years to re-equip and reinforce our army and to restore the security system in order to be able to withstand all threats,” he said.

Political groups led by former Presidents Levon Ter-Petrosian and Serzh Sarkisian may still agree to join forces to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, a prominent opposition figure said on Monday.
Ter-Petrosian last week publicly called on Sarkisian and the other former Armenian president, Robert Kocharian, to lead a broad-based opposition alliance in an attempt to unseat Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian.
Both men turned down the proposal before Ter-Petrosian suggested that the political parties led by him and Sarkisian set up an electoral bloc without Kocharian’s participation. Sarkisian did not accept that proposal either, saying through his office that “the bilateral alliance cannot be effective.”

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) and another opposition party officially confirmed on Thursday that they will join forces with former President Robert Kocharian to participate in snap parliamentary elections expected in June.
“We will soon make a joint statement on the formation of the alliance, its name, electoral list and other tasks,” Ishkhan Saghatelian, the head of Dashnaktsutyun’s governing body in Armenia, said in a video address posted on Facebook.
Saghatelian said the Dashnaktsutyun leadership has decided to team up with Kocharian and the newly established party called Resurgent Armenia because they have similar “visions for Armenia’s future.”

How diamonds were imported to Armenia and who is responsible for falsifying their value and evading customs
The diamond processing company affiliated with the ADM Diamonds factory imported diamonds to Armenia from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2020 by falsifying their value and avoiding 17 million drams in customs fees. This isn’t the only interesting fact about the diamond trade between Armenia and the UAE; in 2019, the two countries reported significantly different data regarding the trade.
Armenia has large databases on foreign trade, and studies continue to reveal corruption risks and schemes.
The Hetq Media Factory Corruption Reporting evening school students investigated a case concerning diamonds imported from the United Arab Emirates in which a false declaration was made and taxes evaded.
The Armenia-Azerbaijan border
Around eight to 10 Azerbaijanis, in civilian clothing, violated the contact line on Wednesday at about 11:40 a.m. in the northeastern part of the state border of Armenia and entered the buffer zone, Armenia’s Defense Ministry reported on Thursday.
The Azerbaijani were observed carrying long pipes, measuring around 100 feet each, which presumably were going to be used to establish water supply to a nearby Azerbaijani military position.
According to the defense ministry, when the Azerbaijani saw the the Armenian Armed forces, they fled, leaving behind the pipes and other equipment.
“The Armenian servicemen demonstrated restraint and did not yield to provocations,” the defense ministry press service said.
