Wicked Local Arlington will now officially recognize June 24 as Prince Hall Day, a day named in honor of one of the leading Black residents of colonial Massachusetts and a key figure in the American Revolution.  At their June 21 meeting, the Select Board approved an official declaration marking the holiday, after it received approved by Town Meeting. Timothy Downes, Grand Master of Prince Hall Grand Lodge in Dorchester, said that the progressive moves in Arlington helped convince Gov. Charlie Baker to mark it at the state level. I spoke with the governor earlier and mentioned that Arlington was going to make June 24 Prince Hall Day, and he said why don t we make it a statewide day? Downes said.
