BILL KELLY (NET News): We ve both been talking with people who played major roles in the first days when the Coronavirus arrived in Nebraska. That was one year ago this week. The state had already hosted those who had come into contact with the virus when the US government evacuated Americans from China and Japan. Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts provided an update on the stateâs response to the COVID-19 pandemic and outlined legislative priorities during a visit to the Fremont Rotary Club on Friday.
In his last visit to the city, Ricketts said he was speaking on recovery efforts following the catastrophic 2019 floods. Soon after, he said the state found itself wrapped up in a pandemic that has led to just over 200,000 positive cases and 2,112 deaths.
âOur country hasnât been in a pandemic in over a century, so weâve all had to learn as we go with regard to how to do this,â he said.

Kearney, Neb. Two Rivers Public Health updated the weekly risk dial on Thursday, November 12. The level of risk has
elevated farther into the red “Pandemic” level. Many factors go into determining the level of risk each week.
The following factors
contributed to this week’s determination:
• Testing availability has expanded over the past week due to the addition of test appointments available to the public in
Gothenburg and Kearney at TestNebraska sites. Testing turnaround time has increased, but not significantly.
• Reports of the shortage of testing supplies, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) continue to hamper testing efforts at
