CULVER CITY, CA Pets are family members, and so they re usually part of our winter holiday festivities. But animal welfare groups are reminding folks that four-legged friends can be sickened or injured by our favorite celebratory trimmings.
To keep pets safe, one California animal shelter shared an important list of safety tips. The following advice was shared by the Riverside County Department of Animal Services:
Delicious dangers. Chocolate, fatty, sweet and spicy foods as well as alcohol and turkey or chicken bones can all be dangerous to pets.

Wedged dog rescued from barred window at California business

Dec. 17 (UPI) Animal control officers in California came to the rescue of a dog that attempted to jump through a barred window and became stuck between the bars.
The Riverside County Department of Animal Services said an animal control officer was summoned to All Car #1 Auto Repair in Jurupa Valley when the owner s dog became wedged in the window.

A German shepherd mix that tried today to jump through a barred window at a Jurupa Valley business became wedged inside the bars, requiring animal control officers to extricate him.
The canine was found about 7 a.m. dangling from the bathroom window at All Car #1 Auto Repair, 8766 Limonite Court, according to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services.
Agency spokesman John Welsh said the pooch may have inadvertently become locked inside the bathroom and attempted to leap outside via the small window, to which an ornamental iron frame is attached, with a heart-shaped bar running down the middle.
