Martha’s Village hosting Johnson & Johnson vaccine clinic Thursday morning
Martha s Village and Kitchen in Indio has partnered with Riverside University Health System to host a free vaccine clinic Thursday morning.
Martha s Village will be administering the single dose Johnson & Johnson from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Martha s Village and Kitchen is located at 83-791 Date Avenue, south of Jackson Street and Indio Boulevard.
Vaccinations are available for Phase 1A; Phase 1B, Individuals from the ages of 18-64 with underlying medical conditions or disabilities and individuals who are 50 or older.

A Temescal Valley family is looking for answers after their daughter rolled up her sleeve for the wrong COVID-19 vaccine shot one that has not yet been approved for minors. When the girl went for her second dose, she was turned away.
Currently in the U.S., the only vaccine approved for ages 16 and up is Pfizer. Johnson & Johnson and Moderna are approved for ages 18 and up.

A statement from the Riverside University Health System says in part: On March, 26, a 17-year-old patient was given a Moderna vaccine at the Riverside University Health System Corona Community Health Center. We recognize the new complexities created in the vaccination process due to tiers opening and minors qualifying and multiple vaccines available at each site. However, we have resolved any issues that may arise due to the complex nature outlines and have implemented processes and mechanisms to prevent this from happening in the future.
Now, the Fong Family faces a dilemma. They want Keira to be fully protected but because her first dose was done in error, they were not going to be able to give her the second dose, said the teen s mother Lilly Fong.

Starting Tuesday, April 6, Riverside County will expand COVID vaccine eligibility to those 16 and older for COVID-19 vaccination
Those who are 16 and 17 – who are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine – will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to get vaccinated. Moderna and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are available to those who are 18 years and older.
The state of California was set to make a similar move on
April 15, but Riverside County has gone ahead with a 10 day head start.
County officials said the change will open vaccine eligibility to hundreds of thousands of Riverside County residents.
