Energy Minister Virgil Popescu visited on Friday the Lotru Ciunget Hydroelectric Power Plant in Valcea County, to discuss with President and CEO of Hidroelectrica Bogdan Badea the development of green hydrogen production technologies, according to a Hidroelectrica press statement.
Also on Friday, Popescu called on the National Research and Development Institute for Cryogenic and Isotopic Technologies (ICSI) in Ramnicu Valcea, where he discussed a strategy to achieve the national decarbonisation targets set at European level.
Analysed on these visits were technologies that have the potential to contribute significantly to the reduction of the carbon footprint, according to the Hidroelectrica press statement, agerpres.ro confirms.

Romania is due to elaborate a national strategy on producing hydrogen energy in the next period, as it is one of the technologies on which the European Union is increasingly focusing for the future, Energy Minister Virgil Popescu told a specialized conference on Tuesday, according to AGERPRES. At the moment, Romania does not have a hydrogen strategy. A team from the Ministry of Energy will work with specialists to devise a national hydrogen strategy. On the way here [the conference, ed.n.] I was talking to Secretary of State Dan Dragan to manage all hydrogen projects, because we have to send them to be included in the National Reconstruction and Resilience Plan and there are hydrogen projects, you know, in Romania, the minister said.

They have a regulated customer base of 6 million for which they never paid. So this is obvious, when the privatisation was done, the distributions took over the electricity distributions, but not the customers. They automatically took over this database, they took over the customers, who were not theirs, and now they use them to monopolize the market. But this cannot be. One can t have a monopoly of 6 million clients to just manage them the way one wants and if one says tomorrow there will be a competitive regime, takes them first through the universal service, which is also more expensive: for they established that it will be 26pct more expensive, by 15pct at some providers and by 20pct at others, and I only leave these 6 million to opt
