Lancashire: more than 90,000 households struggle with fuel bills

They come from the the latest Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy data for 2019. The statistics revealed that 92,810 homes in Lancashire are officially in fuel poverty. That means 15.5 per cent of households across the county live in a property with low energy efficiency and would be pushed below the poverty line by housing costs and the energy bills needed to stay warm and well-lit. An estimated 9,922 Blackburn with Darwen households experienced fuel poverty in 2019. At 16.4 per cent of homes in the borough, one of the highest rates in the North-West region where the average was 14.5 per cent. Across different neighbourhoods in Blackburn with Darwen, fuel poverty rates ranged from 4.9 per cent to 32.4 per cent.
