ACWA Power has signed an implementation agreement to build and operate a 1500MW wind power project in Uzbekistan. Located in Karakalpakstan, an autonomous republic in the northwestern end of Uzbekistan, the wind farm will be the largest in Central Asia and one of the biggest in the world.
The deal, signed on May 4 with Uzbekistan s Ministry of Investments & Foreign Trade and Ministry of Energy, is the latest in a series of projects involving cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan. Present at the signing ceremony were Saudi Arabia s Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments & Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov.

Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power has signed an implementation agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade and Ministry of Energy for a wind power project.
The company will develop, build and operate the 1,500MW project in Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan.
Once operational, the project will become the largest wind farm in the Central Asian region, and one of the largest in the world.
The agreement was signed by Ayad al-Amri, Executive General Manager of Business Development in ACWA Power, and Sherzod Khodjaev, Deputy Minister at the Uzbekistan Ministry of Energy, and Shukhrat Vafaev, Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade.

RIYADH ACWA Power, a leading Saudi developer, investor and operator of power generation and desalinated water plants in 13 countries, signed an implementation agreement with the Ministry of Investments & Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan for the development, construction and operation of a 1500 MW wind power project in Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan.
The agreement was signed inn the presence of Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments & Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov,
