Alice ISD bond projects nearing completion

Construction on a number of Alice ISD school projects are ongoing The high school is in line for renovation as it has now been in constant use for 51 years. Author: Michael Gibson (KIII) Updated: 7:07 AM CDT April 9, 2021 ALICE, Texas The Alice Independent School District is anxiously awaiting the completion of phase one bond projects that were approved by voters back in 2019.  The $20.7 million bond helped to pay to renovate and improve a number of facilities that were built after the year 2000. It also meant closing both intermediate schools and an elementary. We are now going to four elementary schools and one middle school and we’re adding additional classrooms at each of the facilities as well as gymnasiums for our elementaries, Superintendent Dr. Carl Scarborough said.

AISD addresses surge of COVID-19 cases and staffing issues Alice Echo News Journal Alice Independent School District (AISD) is closely monitoring the recent surge in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the county. AISD Superintendent Dr. Carl Scarbrough met with the COVID-19 task force on Tuesday and plans to continue to mitigate the spread of the virus in area schools.  On Tuesday, Jan. 5, AISD had seven employees self-report positive for COVID-19 and 16 staff employees under quarantine with possible exposure to the virus. AISD currently has 750 employees and an active face to face student participation of 35 percent.   These recent COVID-19 cases are off-campus staff, and we, as a district, are mitigating all possible exposure for the safety of the staff and the students, Scarbrough said.
