Excessive heat causing greenery to dry out across Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. Greenery isn t so green anymore because drought and hot temperatures are taking their toll.
In a summer of unexpected heat, a lot of local landscapes are changing colors.
Because Oregon is in the midst of a drought, the Oregon Department of Transportation is being smart with their water, including for the brush on the side of the road.
Katherine Benenati, a spokesperson for ODOT, said they focus on getting plants that are used to the heat planted.

Art and the Vineyard will be held in Alton Baker Park during the second weekend of September, hosted by the Maude Kerns Art Center.
It was originally planned for the 4th of July weekend but was rescheduled due to COVID, said Michael Fisher, the executive director for the Maude Kerns Art Center.
“We really wanted to have the opportunity for a great big event where people could come out and really enjoy, and then be able to experience it in person,” Fisher said.
