Grande Prairie City Council received a virtual, online response, from its request Alberta Health Services come before council before the end of the month.
Three senior managers from the Alberta Health Service North Zone: Gregory Cummings, Chief Zone Officer; Stacy Greening, Senior Operating Officer, Queen Elizabeth II Hospital; and Dr. Kathryn Koliaska, Medical Officer of Health attended the meeting.

On several occasions in the recent past going back as early as September of last year–city council requested AHS attend a council meeting to answer questions such as the accuracy of COVID-19 tests, immunity testing, influenza rates, vaccination, the expected open date for the new hospital, overdoses, suicides and deaths.

With students only just having returned to in-class learning at the start of this week the Lethbridge School Division reports they have received notice from Alberta Health Services on Tuesday of a COVID-19 outbreak at Gilbert Paterson Middle School.
AHS has notified the Division that there are three COVID-19 cases at Gilbert Paterson Middle School. At this time, based on advice from Alberta Education, Gilbert Paterson Middle School will remain open.
The Alberta Government defines an outbreak as two or more confirmed cases in a school setting within a 14-day period or two or more confirmed cases that are epidemiologically linked.

Not many people can say they’ve lived through two pandemics, but Bea Mockford can include herself on that survivor scroll.
She can remember her mother sewing mustard masks at her home in Wainwright when the 1918 pandemic hit when she was two-years-old. The now 104-year-old was the second resident at Sherwood Care to receive the Moderna vaccine on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Alberta Health Services has begun the rollout of an additional 25,350 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to all health-care zones, while the Alberta government loosens the rules just a bit to allow people who live alone to visit another home one time over the holidays.

Prison justice advocates are calling for swift, proactive steps to protect people in Alberta correctional centres and reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The Alberta Prison Justice Society (APJS) sent an open letter addressed to the government, remand centres Crown prosecutors, police and health authorities on Monday raising concerns about COVID-19 outbreaks in Alberta s correctional institutions.
Amanda Hart-Dowhun, APJS president, wrote in the letter that her organization wants to ensure there s a plan to protect inmates and staff from future outbreaks.
