ASIRT determines Lloydminster RCMP officers used reasonable force during 2019 arrest

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has determined Lloydminster RCMP officers used reasonable force in an arrest that saw the suspect get shot.
The ASIRT report stems from an incident on April 29th, 2019. On that day, according to the document, officers saw a 33-year old man driving a stolen Dodge Ram 2500 truck that had been taken from a local vehicle repair shop. Video footage from the repair shop confirmed that the man had stolen it, and officers also determined that the man was still under investigation in relation to a homicide that had occurred on April 27, 2019.

Alberta s police watchdog has ruled that a Calgary police officer was justified in fatally shooting a man who he says attempted to rob him at knifepoint in 2018.
Alberta s Serious Incident Response Team was directed to investigate the fatal shooting, which happened in Bridgeland on April 9, 2018.
At about 11 p.m. that night, according to an ASIRT news release, a plainclothes officer who was conducting surveillance near Second Avenue and Sixth Street N.E. on an unrelated investigation took a break to sit in his unmarked vehicle and check his phone.

The provincial police watchdog is investigating after a man was killed during an officer-involved shooting on the O’Chiese First Nation in central Alberta.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) said RCMP officers were called to the community around 9:30 a.m. on April 3 on reports that a man was jumping on vehicles. Two officers responded in separate vehicles and originally could not find the man. The officers received reports that sent them in the direction of a nearby home.
