Alberta’s top court has dismissed the sentencing appeal for a man found guilty of a crowbar road rage attack that left a woman with two broken arms.
Jared Eliasson was convicted on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and mischief causing damage to an automobile and was sentenced in December 2019 to 3 1/2 years.
In a video posted to Facebook, Johnston and several companions walked into Dave’s No Frills in Dawson Creek on March 25, apparently with the intension of challenging the store’s mask-wearing policy, which is required under B.C.’s pandemic health orders.
When employees asked the group to wear masks or leave the store, Johnston left $5 and walked out with a bar of soap.
An employee followed the group into the parking lot to collect their licence number, according to an RCMP statement.
The video shows the employee, who is being recorded at close range by Johnston, batting the phone away from his face. Johnston then lashes out at the man, his hand appearing to make contact with the employee’s head.

A former Edmonton police employee who was the victim of an officer’s workplace harassment campaign is relieved after Alberta’s highest court upheld the former constable’s firing.
In a decision released Monday, the Alberta Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal from Fiona Moffat, a ex-Edmonton Police Service constable who was fired following an investigation into bullying and harassment in the department’s emergency communications unit.

Justice Brian O Ferrall called Fanning and El-Sakaan s actions barbaric.
O Ferrall said no matter what Sara did or did not consent to, the pair are criminally responsible for the savage cruelty they inflicted upon [her].
Brooker has since retired, so Fanning and El-Sakaan will go before a new judge to be sentenced. A date for that will be set at the end of this week.
