Jared Eliasson was convicted on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and mischief causing damage to an automobile and was sentenced in December 2019 to 3 1/2 years.

An employee followed the group into the parking lot to collect their licence number, according to an RCMP statement. The video shows the employee, who is being recorded at close range by Johnston, batting the phone away from his face.
