There have been 62 new cases of variants of concern identified in the past 24 hours, bringing the provincial total to 1,047. Hinshaw announced that, beginning Wednesday morning, COVID-19 vaccination appointment bookings through Alberta Health Services and participating pharmacies continue rollout to include three additional birth years. Appointments will open to Albertans born in 1949, 1950, and 1951, and First Nations, Métis, and Inuit born in 1964, 1965, and 1966. Individuals born prior to those years are still eligible to book their vaccines as well. The province also announced on Tuesday that community physicians will soon be able to administer vaccines in Alberta. Alberta Health has been working with the Alberta Medical Association to bring community physicians into the vaccine distribution plan as supply increases.

Alberta Health has been working with the Alberta Medical Association (AMA) to incorporate community physicians into the vaccine distribution plan as vaccine supply increases. This has resulted in more than 500 expressions of interest from Alberta physicians and stand-alone clinics. Combined, 185 physician clinics containing 1,100 physicians will create additional capacity for an estimated 14,000 daily doses, as supply allows. Some physicians are already assisting Alberta Health Services (AHS) with vaccine administration.
