Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) announced Aviara Padgett (grade 4) and Jackson Dominski (grade 6), both of Alexandria, Va., as its inaugural winners of its Metropolitan Anti-Bias Committee s (MABAC) Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Project Activity. The project was open to all MSA students to submit and enter a raffle for a $100 gift card. Ghanaian poet Apiorkor to perform at Sundance Film Festival

One of Ghana s most enterprising poets, Apiorkor, will be performing at the 2021 Sundance Festival slated for January 28 - February 3, 2021.
Apiorkor [Seyiram Ashong-Abbey] is a Ghanaian poet, media practitioner, an activist of Ga-Daŋme/Ewe ancestry, and author of
The Matriarch s Verse.
Apiorkor’s poetry concert remains Ghana s largest independently organised poetry event.
She has appeared on TEDx platforms, in addition to #TEDWomen2020 (an annual TED conference organised by the TED headquarters in New York, USA) and at re:publica, Berlin.

Park City audiences have had the chance to see the works of world-renowned choreographer Alvin Ailey thanks to the Park City Institute bringing his touring companies to town.
During this year’s Sundance Film Festival, audiences will get the opportunity to get to know the man who created the works “Revelations,” “Masekela Language” and “Cry,” through Jamila Wignot’s documentary “Ailey.”
The film will make its virtual festival premiere at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and Wignot is excited to screen her film.
“Sundance was a goal, and my entire team and I are elated, even though we won’t get to enjoy being at Park City,” Wignot said. “Obviously when you set out to make these films, you have hopes about how it will be received and where it may premiere.”
