Australian GP to be postponed, says Stroll PlanetF1 7/01/2021 © Getty Images Australian Grand Prix Melbourne PA Lawrence Stroll has all but confirmed rumours that the 2021 Australian Grand Prix will be postponed as a result of the global pandemic. The 2020 edition of the race in Melbourne was cancelled altogether following members of the paddock testing positive for COVID-19, but Albert Park hoped and was scheduled to return to host the opening race of the 2021 season. Whether that would actually happen was thrown into doubt following various reports that, due to a rise in cases again, the race would be pushed back to later in the year.

It first emerged back in December 2020 that the team formerly known as Racing Point were in talks with the US IT firm and, on Thursday January 7 2021, that deal was made official. The team will be known as Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team. Formula 1 - Aston Martin announce Cognizant as title sponsors for 2021

Formula 1 Aston Martin have confirmed that American IT company Cognizant will become their title sponsor for the 2021 F1 World Championship. Aston Martin, now a factory team in Formula 1 after Lawrence Stroll purchased controlling shares of the company in 2020, have announced a new title sponsor for their ‘debut’ season. Cognizant, an American multinational IT brand, have signed up with the former Racing Point team, with the team’s formal name becoming Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team for 2021. Aston say that Cognizant will play a key role as a partner rather than purely sponsorship. The ‘multi-year’ deal will see Cognizant supply the Silverstone-based team with the ‘best IT infrastructure and software solutions on the market’.
