Elon Musk s SpaceX selected to build NASA s lunar lander

The mission would land astronauts on the moon for the first time in nearly 50 years.   Today, I m very excited, and we are all very excited to announce that we have awarded SpaceX to continue the development of our integrated human landing system, NASA s Human Landing program manager Lisa Watson-Morgan said in a call with reporters Friday afternoon. It s unclear where the lunar lander will be built, but SpaceX has a significant presence in far South Texas, with an operations site near Boca Chica that includes a production facility and a launch site.
