Clarksville Now CLARKSVILLE, TN – Austin Peay State University’s popular summer coding camps return to the University’s Clarksville campus this year after the pandemic forced officials to cancel last year’s camps. APSU Police to increase seat belt enforcement during Click It or Ticket campaign

Clarksville Now CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Austin Peay State University’s Police Department will increase seat belt enforcement  from May 24 through June 6 as part of a “Click It of Ticket ” campaign with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office. The enforcement campaign will primarily focus on nighttime enforcement, according to a release from APSU. Participating law enforcement will take a “no excuses” approach to seat belt enforcement, writing tickets day and night. “Buckling up is such a simple task that can keep you and your family safe in the car,” APSU Police Chief Sammie Williams said. “But it’s more than that. Buckling up is the law. Our law enforcement officers see the consequences of not buckling up. We see the loss of life. Often, it could have been prevented with the simple click of a seat belt. This should be automatic.”

The loss of Evans Harvill is truly a sad one for our Governor family, APSU President Michael Licari said in a statement. He will be remembered by his friends at Austin Peay as a distinguished alumnus who supported his alma mater in many academic areas, as well as the arts and athletics.

Sarah Dugger makes history as APSU s first doctoral graduate

CLARKSVILLE, TN – The title in front of her name sometimes causes her to hesitate: Dr. Sarah Dugger. “A lot of my teacher friends will joke and call me Dr. Dugger,” she said. Over the next few months, others might also hesitate when she tells them where she earned her doctorate – Austin Peay State University. For the last 94 years, the University has never awarded anything higher than an Education Specialist graduate degree, but that will change on Friday, May 7. Dugger – let’s say it again, “Dr. Sarah Dugger” – will make history by becoming the first person to earn a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in educational leadership degree at the University.
