Finland to enter a 3 week lockdown on March 8

Finland will go into a three-week lockdown starting March 8 and is prepared to declare a state of emergency, Prime Minister Sanna Marin said Thursday.
Marin was speaking during a news conference as the country faces a significant increase in the number of coronavirus cases and a rise in hospitalizations.
The strictest restrictions will be introduced Thursday in seven hospital districts, including the capital Helsinki. Such measures include distance working, the recommended use of face masks, protection of high-risk groups, distance schooling in higher education, lockdown of public areas, closure of adult leisure activities and a ban on gatherings.

VIENNA, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) Austria will start to offer free in-home coronavirus self-testing next week as part of its testing offensive against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Austrian government has said.
Starting from next week, people aged 15 and over can obtain test-kits for free from pharmacies taking part in this program by showing an e-card or a social security number, according to a government press release published Wednesday by the Austrian Press Agency.
It said that the plan will provide up to five free tests per person per month.
Health Minister Rudolf Anschober said Thursday that the free self-tests are another important component in fighting the pandemic.

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz will push the European Union Thursday to introduce a “green passport” for people who have protection against coronavirus, he said.
“We need a green passport for everyone who has either been vaccinated or has immunity, because they have just gone through coronavirus, or has taken a new (negative) test,” Kurz told journalists on Wednesday, ahead of a two-day summit with European leaders on the pandemic.
