Last year tested the strength of our communities and the resilience of our countries. It was a year dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic. And yet, for Australians, it also started with the most devastating bushfires in our history.
For all its challenges, 2020 demonstrated the importance of innovation, resources and leadership to protect and support our communities and countries.
The growing synergy among the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue powers of Australia, Japan, the United States and India has provided a crucial impetus to the security architecture of the Indo-Pacific. Bilateral ties between these four states have also seen positive growth, largely a result of “like-minded” visions and policies dedicated to the creation of a free, rules-based and open maritime domain. 18 January 2021 | Natalie Bannerman NEC Corporation has signed a contract with the National Submarine Cable Utility Belau Submarine Cable Corporation (BSCC) of the Palau Republic (Palau) for the Palau Cable 2 (PC2) subsea cable project.
Spanning 110km in length and due for completion by the end of 2022, PC2 will connect the island of Palau with a high capacity subsea cable that connects Southeast Asia and the US mainland.
PC2 with deploy a optical wavelength multiplexing transmission system of 100Gbps, and bring much-needed redundancy to Palau s existing subsea network. In addition, it will deliver highly reliable communications and responds meet the increasing need for communications infrastructure in Palau.
