A class III student and an NRI living in Kuwait, Riddhiraj Kumar, presented a cheque of Rs 18,000 to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as donation for the Army Welfare Fund on Thursday evening.
Victorian schools have a student-to-teaching staff ratio of 12.8 students to one teacher.
This is higher in primary schools (13.9 students to one teacher) than secondary schools (11.5 students to one teacher).
Victorian independent schools had a lower student-to-teacher ratio (10.8 students to one teacher) than Catholic schools (13 students to one teacher) and government schools (13.3 students to one teacher).
The OECD suggests investments in teacher quality are more effective than investing in smaller classes.
Australian researchers say disadvantaged schools and students in the early years of schooling benefit most from smaller classes.

Class sizes may exert some influence on parentsâ choice of one school over another, but experts say the latest data shows smaller classes do not necessarily increase academic performance.
