The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), with support from the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO), the Government of Canada, and Visa Inc. have launched a ‘Women Enterprise Recovery Fund: Promoting and Upscaling Digital Solutions for Enhancing Women Enterprise Growth and Resilience’.
“Through this Fund, we will support innovative business solutions that address the constraints faced by women enterprises in South and South-East Asia. These solutions are especially crucial today as we know women enterprises have suffered disproportionately from COVID-19. Health Ministry Says Preparations for COVAX on Track
In addition, the Government is also in bilateral talks with our donors and partners to secure additional supply of vaccine to increase the coverage of vaccination against Covid-19.

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) assures the public that work on acquiring Covid-19 vaccines once they are approved, and the preparations in country to receive and roll out COVAX (Covid-19 Vaccines Access Facility) is well underway and progressing according to plan.
The statement was made in response to claims made by the office of the opposition group that health is far from ready in its preparedness to receive and roll out the vaccine due to delays with appointments of technical expertise to support the government in this regard.

An Australian ex-Muslim women’s rights activist faces “politically motivated” charges in Tanzania, including for a tweet allegedly critical of the country’s president, according to her supporters.
The Australian government is providing consular assistance to Zara Kay, 28, the founder of Faithless Hijabi, a group set up two years ago to support women who are ostracized or face violence if they leave or question Islam.
Kay wrote on Twitter on Monday last week that she was “going into the police station because someone reported me in for blasphemy.”
