Labor platform to reflect support for new gas projects

Labor will amend its national policy platform next year to recognise the âcritical roleâ of gas to the economy and to express support for new gas projects across the country.
In a deal brokered between Labor s energy and resources spokesmen Mark Butler and Ed Husic, as well as the Australian Workers Union, the platform will be amended to make explicit the partyâs support for the gas sector.

The changes are a major shift away from the current wording of Labor s guiding policy document, which focuses almost exclusively on environmental concerns in its gas section.
