Melbourne to host World Recreational Fishing Conference 8 July 2021 MELBOURNE will host the 10th World Recreational Fishing Conference, scheduled for 2023. The winning bid for World Recreational Fishing Conference’s (WRFC) host city was announced last week at the Ninth WRFC in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Melbourne will host the event from February 19-23, 2023 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre while also being broadcast digitally around the world. The event is held every three years for researchers, recreational fishers, angling organisations and government to meet and exchange knowledge about hot topics in recreational fishing. Graduate certificate announced for recreational fishers 25 February 2021 Image: ARFF THE Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation (ARFF), the national peak body for recreational fishing and its member organisations has welcomed Charles Sturt University’s announcement of a new Graduate Certificate in Fisheries Conservation and Management in the field of freshwater fisheries. ARFF Manager Adam Martin congratulated Charles Sturt University and the Institute for Land, Water and Society for collaborating with the recreational fishing sector to help develop such an “innovative and exciting opportunity” for Australia’s passionate recreational fishing community. “The numbers of recreational fishers who understand the need to improve our freshwater fisheries or are actively engaged in activities relating to fish ecology and management, citizen science, stewardship, water management, habitat restoration and conservation is simply exploding!”

New fishing show “Tackle Box Talks” to launch 17 December 2020 Host and ARFF manager Adam Martin. THE launch of a new weekly online fishing show is expected to attract listeners from around the nation and the world. “Tackle Box Talks” will premiere this Friday at 7pm (AEDT) and is the product of the Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation’s (ARFF) Tackle Box Project – a dedicated citizen science program for Aussie fishers. Hosted by ARFF manager Adam Martin, the show is designed to meet the needs of Aussie fishers who are already engaging in or have a strong interest in issues such as citizen science, fish habitat, water quality, stewardship, fisheries and water management.
