Chinese hackers are suspected of breaking their way into Western Australia s parliamentary email network as part of a global cyber-attack.
The online attack, which involved Microsoft software, was detected in the middle of the state election campaign on March 4.
Premier Mark McGowan claimed a landslide victory in the Western Australian election over the weekend, with Opposition Leader Zak Kirkup formally conceding defeat about two hours after polls closed.
A warning text from the Department of Parliamentary Services was sent to WA politicians in the wake of the email hacking, ABC reported. Please be advised that the Parliament mail server has been hit with a cyber-attack, the text read.

Polls have closed in the Western Australia state election with the Labor Premier Mark McGowan expected to be returned with a resounding and increased majority.
The Premier told reporters on Saturday he wasn’t getting ahead of himself and would await the outcome after the polls closed at 6pm in the evening local time.

Mark McGowan s seat of Rockingham has 87 per cent of votes in his favour with 901 votes counted as of 10pm AEDT.
