Child exploitation material arrests at Cairns
Detectives have charged 23 people with multiple child exploitation material offences as part of joint law enforcement investigations with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) since the inception of the Cairns Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET).
The Cairns Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) – comprising detectives from the QPS Cairns Child Protection and Investigation Unit and the AFP – have so far executed 23 separate search warrants throughout the Far North and Central regions since the team was established mid-2020.
As a result, a total of 23 people have been charged on 148 Commonwealth and State offences since mid-last year.

A huge child exploitation ring has been busted as detectives charge 23 alleged predators with more than 100 horrific offences.
Queensland Police and Australian Federal Police established the Cairns Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) in mid-2020.
They have now issued charges for 148 Commonwealth and State offences to 23 people throughout the Far North and Central regions.
AFP Commander Hilda Sirec warned child exploitation is increasing across Australia as the charges were announced.

Police lay charges – Child sex offences – Litchfield
Detectives from the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET) arrested and charged a 53-year-old man in Virginia yesterday for a number of child sex offences.
Police allege that the man rented a spare room at a friend’s property in early 2019, and began grooming his friend’s 11-year-old daughter.
In July 2019, the victim and her family relocated to South Australia, and it is alleged that the man then established an online communication with her via social media.
On 12 May 2021, Northern Territory and Australian Federal Police executed search warrant on the man’s premises. They located the man in possession of a mobile device that contained significant amounts of communication with the victim that spanned over 12 months, which included him transferring child abuse material to her.

WA man now charged with 312 offences over international online ‘sextortion’ of 285 victims

A WA man who allegedly pretended to be a teenage social media celebrity to blackmail girls online into performing sex acts has been charged with a further 65 offences.
This takes the total number of charges to 312 after further investigation by the Western Australia Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (WA JACET).
The 25-year-old Parkwood man is currently remanded in custody and is expected to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court to answer the new charges today (Friday, 23 April 2021). He is now facing charges relating to 285 alleged victims in Australia and other countries.
