Subscriber only Six Nine Entertainment executives are jockeying to replace outgoing chief executive Hugh Marks amid rumblings that only one woman is in contention, reinforcing growing concern about the company s blokey culture. A number of external media figures are also vying to replace Mr Marks, who quit in November after board discomfort when he revealed his relationship with a subordinate. Sources who agreed to speak on condition of anonymity said the company s highly regarded marketing boss, Lizzie Young, was the only woman asked to present to the Nine board.

With KIIS workdays in the 3s and 4s they had to change something. Looks like they’re going with personality and content to fix the problems. Will be interesting to see if it works.

Ryan will be fantastic but at the same time it’s a shame to see Mason get the flick.
If you want to have longevity in radio, you need to watch your attitude, because “you won’t last that long if you’re a bit of a dick”, Grant Broadcasters’ group content director, Ryan Rathbone, has said.
He pointed to ‘Ugly Phil’ – aka Phil O’Neill – who has just returned to local radio after an extended and varied career to take on Mornings at Australian Radio Network’s (ARN) WSFM in Sydney, as an example of someone who has found long-term success in the space.
And given the year the sector has experienced, Rathbone said radio employees need to learn how to handle, and move on from, a redundancy, without causing a scene of behaving badly.

Ben Fordham held onto the number one spot because he is a good bloke – so why did Deb Knight and Jim Wilson have big drops in the ratings?
GRAHAM BARRY
Ben Fordham is way to sugary and syrupy for me.
I have gone back to the M’s. Entertaining and just as informative.
And I have not missed Hadley either.

I find Ben Fordham’s delivery very monotone. Whether selling a pillow or advising of a terrorist threat somewhere in the world his level of voice does not change.
Former Hit Perth breakfast host Ryan Jon joins Kiis 101.1 Melbourne
December 17, 2020 10:00
Australian Radio Network (ARN) has secured the services for a former Southern Cross Austereo radio host Ryan Jon for a new Kiis 101.1 Melbourne workdays program.
Jon, who departed his role as host of Hit92.9 breakfast for family reasons in July of 2019, will remain on-air for ARN in Melbourne after his current stint on Kiis 101.1 summer breakfast wraps up.
Jon has been hosting summer breakfast with Lauren Phillips, and said he’s excited to be a full-time part of the team and return to his home city of Melbourne.
“I’ve really enjoyed being here at KIIS doing summer breakfast so to be asked to join the on air team and continue the fun into 2021 is really a dream come true,” he said.
