Save Share London | The European Union has told Trade Minister Dan Tehan in Brussels that it will not stand in the way of any AstraZeneca shipment of vaccines to Papua New Guinea, ending weeks of resistance to Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s request. But the stand-off over the shortfall of EU-sourced AstraZeneca vaccines for Australia itself looks set to continue, with Mr Tehan saying only that “we agreed we would keep those discussions going”. Papua New Guinea has already received 132,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine via the Covax program.  Mr Tehan said EU Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis had assured him that the vaccine shipment of 1 million doses for PNG, where the COVID-19 crisis remains menacing, could go ahead.
