SYDNEY, June 9 (Xinhua) Australian researchers have provided a roadmap for addressing educational deficiency in the wake of the pandemic disruptions to improve Australia s dealing with educationally disadvantaged young people.
Researchers from Australia s University of Queensland (UQ) and Paul Ramsay Foundation explored the impact of the national COVID-19 lockdown on educational disadvantage, saying on Wednesday it was the first study to present evidence-based solutions to help inform policy.
The study adopted 16 recommendations for decision-makers and sector stakeholders, which was divided into four priority areas for action, including improving student mental health, wellbeing and hope, building up the future roles of teachers, schools, and communities, setting up protections for most vulnerable students and digital equity.

Eight final-round participants competed in Binghamton University’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition on Thursday, April 29.
The 3MT Competition was first developed by Australia’s University of Queensland in 2008. The competition gives graduate students an opportunity to present their research to a nonspecialist audience in three minutes, awarding monetary prizes to students placing first, second, third and the elected people’s choice. This year, the Graduate School at BU hosted the final round of the spring 2021 3MT Competition for BU students virtually through Zoom.
