Mairead s producer Pamela Blake is working from home at the moment and they only get to see each other over video chats each day, but Pamela joined Mairead on the show to tell her about her plans to take part in Asthma Awareness Week.
Pamela has asthma, which is part of the reason she has been working from home, and she s really happy to be taking part in the Love Your Lungs challenge with the Asthma Society of Ireland.
They re asking people to sign up for the virtual challenge and stroll, stretch or stride their way to a collective 10 million steps over the course of the week.

Today is World Asthma Day.
According to new research from The Asthma Society of Ireland and Astrazeneca, 26% of patients with asthma have admitted to avoiding the accident and emergency department in the past year, even during an asthma attack.

The research was shared today, 4 May, which is World Asthma Day.
The study also found that while 90% of people with asthma would accept the Covid-19 vaccine, only 31% of patients have been vaccinated, despite the fact that asthma is an underlying respiratory illness.
According to the research, 71% of people with asthma said that they were concerned about contracting the virus.

Also, one in five people are likely to develop the condition at some point in their life.
The Asthma Society of Ireland have launched their Love Your Lungs virtual fundraiser, supported by ALK, as part of Asthma Awareness Week.
It takes place from 1-8 May, 2021 and they want you to get involved.
The past year has been a particularly worrying time for those affected by asthma as COVID-19 it s a respiratory illness.
Due to this, Asthma Awareness Week 2021 wants to focus on the importance of good asthma management and controlling the condition.
