Patients with stable coronary artery disease who received “complete” revascularization in the ISCHEMIA trial appear to have derived more clinical benefit with the invasive strategy than medical therapy over follow-up, a finding at odds with what was observed for the overall trial. The implication, say investigators, is that revascularization might offer clinical advantages over conservative medical therapy if all anatomically relevant lesions are treated.
This analysis, which focused only on the patients who had complete revascularization defined anatomically, showed that the primary composite endpoint occurred in 11.9% of patients treated invasively as opposed to 15.4% of patients who were treated medically.

Admittedly, Ryan Bagwell has ventured into âdad-bodâ territory.
At 42, he said, he is not in the same shape he once was, and the ongoing pandemic â which has spawned a steady stream of beer and late-night pizza â hasnât exactly helped.
But Bagwell recently learned that his pandemic pounds have at least one benefit: They qualify him for a coveted COVID-19 vaccine. Under new state guidelines, Bagwellâs body mass index of 26 put him just over the BMI threshold of 25.1 to be considered âoverweight.â
“Since the start of the pandemic, VISN 1 medical centers have been focused on vaccinating as many veterans as possible, and we are excited to multiply our efforts thanks to the SAVE LIVES Act, “ Ryan Lilly, director of VA New England Healthcare System, said in a press release.
The VA says it must still prioritize veterans enrolled in VA care, but Still says he s confident that the VA would have enough doses and the capacity to ensure those newly eligible will be able to be vaccinated soon.”
Those eligible under the SAVES LIVES Act can register on the VA s website, www.va.gov/covid-19-vaccine and get notified when the vaccine is available.
