Help from the Manchester International Festival for his next project
Comedian Vince Atta has been awarded a creative fellowship from the Manchester International Festival.
It means financial help towards the creation of his next project, mentorship and advice - including showing one of the teams working on this year’s event.
The comic says his work is strongly based around the mixed-race living experience and he’s currently writing a hip-hop musical set in 1980s Moss Side.
Atta said: ‘I think this has come about because I felt the need to change. I m teaching myself new skills, music production, video editing and writing plays.
Charity event with master compiler John Halpern
Dave Gorman and fellow crossword compiler John Halpern are to crowdsource their next word puzzle.
They want the public to help them create a crossword in the theme of the band Madness on Friday, picking both the answers and devising clues and mysterious clues as the crossword is put together before their eyes.
Halpern has compiled grids for many national newspapers while Gorman last year became a compiler for The Independent under the pseudonym Bluth and sometimes the Telegraph as Django.
Friday’s event is free, bu the pair are asking for donations for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
