Shoreham Academy closed as staff test positive for Covid-19

A SECONDARY school has been forced to close after a “significant number of staff” tested positive for coronavirus over the weekend, it has been revealed. In a letter seen by The Argus, parents were told to stop their kids from attending Shoreham Academy and to work from home on Monday. People unable to care for their children were given the option to send them into school in order to work in year group “bubbles”. A decision to allow pupils to return to school for Tuesday and Wednesday is set to be made this afternoon, it is understood. Writing to parents, Principal Jim Coupe said: ‘We have not taken this decision lightly and have made it with the safety of all of our school community in mind.

Coronavirus: MP warns area of Sussex could face Tier 3

AN MP has warned that a Sussex town is teetering towards Tier 3 restrictions as the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise at an alarming rate. Hastings and Rye Conservative MP Sally-Ann Hart urged her constituents to stick to the current Tier 2 rules in order to curb the rising tide of positive tests and avoid a third wave of the virus.
