Essex firefighters support East of England Ambulance Service

Twelve on-call firefighters will work as ambulance drivers, alongside paramedics, until January 31. They trained and supported the Ambulance Service during the first wave of the pandemic. BUSES are being diverted after a police incident blocked a road in Basildon. First Essex have tweeted it cannot send its buses down Whitmore Way in Basildon due to an ongoing police incident on the road. At 12.15pm, the firm tweeted: Due to an ongoing incident on Whitmore Way, the above services will divert in both directions on Broadmayne until further notice. There will be no service on Whitmore Way until the road has been cleared. At 1.23pm the firm said: The police incident is still ongoing. We are still unable to operate any services down Whitmore Way at this time.

Police investigations are continuing almost six months after the crash on Long Road in Lowestoft. The East of England Ambulance Service, police and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were called out at 5pm on Monday, July 6 after a cyclist and an Audi A4 were involved in the collision. A man in his 20s suffered serious injuries and he was taken to James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston before being transferred to Addenbrooke’s in Cambridge with a punctured lung.
