Kayaker rescued from North Sea by lifeboat crews A KAYAKER was rescued from the North Sea by volunteer lifeboat crews after being found clinging to his upturned kayak off Walton. Clacton and Harwich RNLI’s Atlantic Class lifeboats crews were called into action shortly after 8pm on Thursday. They were tasked by the UK Coastguard to search for someone clinging to an upturned kayak north of Walton Pier. RNLI Harwich’s lifeboat was first on scene, having been afloat on routine exercises, and pulled the man from the sea. They were shortly joined by Clacton’s lifeboat, which has a paramedic crew member onboard.

Police have completely shut an Essex road following a crash this morning (Saturday, May 1).
Emergency services rushed to High Road Thornwood in Epping, Essex, at around 8am following reports of an incident.
Essex Police in the Epping Forest district confirmed that they are currently in attendance between The Plain and Weald Hall Lane following a road traffic incident in the area.
Officers have closed the road and have advised motorists to avoid the area and plan alternative routes where possible.

A cyclist has been taken to hospital following a collision with a car in Ipswich.
Suffolk police were called shortly after 3pm on Friday to Britannia Road following reports of a collision between a cyclist and a Mazda 3.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said that the East of England Ambulance Service was called to the scene and that the cyclist was taken to hospital with what is believed to be a leg fracture.
The road has since been cleared.

High tide - cars on the flooded Strood causeway on Mersea Island FIRE crews have issued a warning after rescuing two people from a car which became trapped during a spring tide. Crews from Colchester, Tollesbury and West Mersea - along with an urban search and rescue team - were called to the Strood, in West Mersea, at 2.55am this morning. The car was caught during high tide where the water had risen to 5.72 metres. Crews had to wear waterproof overalls, life jackets and use a sled to carry out the rescue. After the couple were saved, they were left in the care of the East of England Ambulance Service as a precaution.
