From the air: do you remember when Hereford looked like this?

Here, we have taken a look at how Hereford city looked in days gone by. Hereford from the air The old city First in the series is the old city, with the Cathedral in the left foreground. To the left background is All Saints on Broad Street, made conspicuous with the then new construction of Thorpe House, Broadway House, and Kemble House. To the right of All Saints is the northern side of High Town with the facade of Lloyds Bank and leading across to St Peter s Church and the nearby Shirehall and Town Hall. Running from the background is the newly constructed east-west Blueschool Street section of the ring road from Commercial Square.

New head announced at historic Hereford school

A NEW headmaster is set to take the reins at a Hereford school this year after the current head announced he would be stepping down after 16 years at the helm. Dr Michael Gray, of Harrow School, was chosen from more than 50 candidates to succeed Paul Smith as headmaster of Hereford Cathedral School. Kings College graduate Dr Gray taught at Halliford School in Shepperton and St Edward’s School, Oxford, before joining Harrow in 2013 as head of politics. He later became academic and universities director before taking up his appointment as director of studies in 2019 with overall responsibility for all academic matters at Harrow.

Hereford is a dying wreck

Children come together for virtual Christmas concert

HUNDREDS of Herefordshire and Shropshire primary school children have come together under the watchful eye of Hereford Cathedral School’s Music Director to produce a Herefordshire and Diocese Schools’ Christmas Concert. In this extraordinary and challenging year, many children have missed out on music education and cultural opportunities, leading to a debate in the House of Commons this week that music education needs recognition from the Government “perhaps more so now than ever before”. Schools across Herefordshire and beyond have long enjoyed their involvement in Hereford Cathedral School’s music outreach programme, and this year is no exception. Through this programme, hundreds of children work with Hereford Cathedral School Director of Music, David Evans, each year and gather together in Hereford Cathedral to see in the festive season.
