Herefordshire farmer jailed after cow found drowning in mud

A HEREFORDSHIRE farmer has been jailed for eight months for what Herefordshire Council said was the worst case of animal suffering it had seen. Charles Dowswell Parry, 51, also breached his 10-year livestock keeping ban, and that has now been extended to a lifetime ban. After being tipped off, animal health officers found a calf collapsed in thigh-deep mud with muddy water running out of its nostrils, Herefordshire Council said. An Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) veterinary inspector found the calf was suffering and beyond any help, meaning it had to be killed where it lay. A cow had to be killed due to the condition vets found it in

Szilvia Paar entered a guilty plea when she appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster on February 6. The court heard Paar had intentionally caused damage to a Ford Mondeo belonging to another person in Leominster on September 4. The 33-year-old, who was released on bail after the offence, had also failed to surrender to custody at Hereford Magistrates Court on October 14. Paar, of Dallamoor, Telford, was fined £320, ordered to pay compensation of £250 to the car s owner, and was made subject to a two-year restraining order. She must also pay costs of £135 and a £47 victim surcharge.
