Help Track Down Stolen Art With Interpol s New App

Interpol, the international crime-fighting police force, catalogs stolen works of art in a massive online database that currently includes more than 52,000 items. Now, as Smithsonian magazine reports, the organization is giving the general public a chance to get in on the investigative action through a new mobile app called ID-Art. Once you re on the app, you can upload a photo of an item (or submit details manually using the search function) and it will let you know if it matches any missing artwork in their database. In this way, Interpol hopes to cut down on the number of art dealers and collectors unwittingly trafficking stolen goods.

GBCVB Announces New Partners for Live Boston Classroom – East Boston Times-Free Press

The Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) announced new cultural activities and hospitality partners have been added to its “Live Boston Classroom” initiative. “Live Boston Classroom” is aimed at attracting families to adventures in the city, including overnight stays at one of a dozen area hotels providing promotional rates, and opportunities for socially distanced activities. The program runs throughout Summer 2021. Among the new additions: Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street’s “Local Escape Package,” featuring an overnight accommodation with 10 percent of the room revenue donated to Boston charities providing COVID-19 relief support, valet parking, a locally-sourced custom amenity, a complimentary visit from the hotel’s “Cocktail Cart,” and a free guide on how to craft the hotel’s signature cocktail, the “Bostonia Bramble.”

UPDATED, May 8: The Arlington International Film Festival (AIFF) has awarded the 2021 poster design with an allusion to peace (at right) to Elena Mathis, student of Mass College of Art in Boston. An accompanying $500 aims to assist a student in advancing art studies. Mathis s design creates a strong connection with the viewer while the bird taking center stage, making direct eye contact and spreading his feathers announce the festival . The bird carries an olive branch in its talons, an ambassador of peace.
